What is QOYA?

QOYA is based on the idea that through movement, we remember. We remember, as women, our essence is wise, wild and free.

WISE ~ Calls on the wisdom of yoga, rest, meditation, stillness

WILD ~ Invokes the creative expression of dance, to move how we feel

FREE ~ The choice of freedom: to feel pleasure in our bodies, to find the places that feel good

These ancient essences lead us to feel that sacred pulse of life that is within us always. When we feel this pulse we honor it and express it with greater clarity + joy. Through movement, ritual and community connection we learn to trust the physical sensation of truth in our bodies. QOYA is designed to help us feel how the body and our movements are portals to remembering, that guide us from going through the motions to savoring life as sacred.

There is NO WAY to do QOYA “wrong” and you know you are doing it “right” if your movement feels honest and reflective for you in the moment. In QOYA we often say that it is not about how it looks and it is ALL ABOUT HOW IT FEELS. We trust the feelings and sensations in our bodies as we use them to guide our dance.
